Avoiding Danger from Overhead Services
COURSE AIMS
The course aims to provide the participant with general guidance in relation to the safe working practices that should be adopted when working in the vicinity of overhead lines. Training is based on the Health and Safety Executive’s Guidance GS6 ‘Avoidance of Danger from Overhead Lines’.
COURSE CONTENT
The course will cover the following topics:
· Applicable legislation and legal obligations
· Planning work in vicinity of overhead lines
· Identification of hazards
· Assessing the risks
· Identification of safe working practices and precautions
· Emergency procedures and cautions
COURSE BENEFITS
After completing the course participants should be able to practice safe working in the vicinity of overhead lines, be aware of applicable legislation and legal obligations and identify safe working practices and precautions.
The participant will receive an Avoiding Danger from Overhead Services training certificate on completion of the course.

The course is particularly relevant to people working in the field of agriculture, construction and quarrying, as well as those working in an environment where long or high equipment is operated or moved, under or near, to these lines, such as scaffold poles, vehicles, cranes and irrigation equipment.
