Equality and Diversity

Seaham Safety Services are delighted to announce a brand new service to help your business’ legal obligations relating to the Equality Act 2010 (Equality Bill).

We have recently teamed up with Falklands Veteran Simon Weston and Disabled Rights Campaigner Gary Skyner to deliver Equality & Diversity training from a truly unique perspective.

It is legislatively dangerous for your company to disregard your staff, your clients and in fact the populous in general when it comes to your need to respect their disability, gender, religion, sexuality, etc.

On 8th April 2010 the Equality Bill received Royal Assent and became the Equality Act 2010. It is not yet in force. The Act brings disability, sex, race and other grounds of discrimination within one piece of legislation, and also makes changes to the law.

The Equality Act includes some major changes to disability discrimination law.

For Example:

Simon Weston O.B.E

Simon is a veteran of the 1982 Falklands conflict and was aboard the HMS Sir Galahad when it was destroyed by an Argentinean Exocet missile.

Simon suffered 46% burns to his body. Simon has used his life experiences to inspire his success in both the business world and with third sector organisations.

Simon's message is one od single-minded determination, to not only accept what is, but to turn that to your advantage. Simon's own career clearly demonstrates how a positive mental attitude can achieve great business goals.

Gary Skyner

Gary was dubbed the second of 466 Thalidomide children born in Great Britain. Dubbed "monster babies" by medical staff, none were expected to survive to maturity.

In his remarkable life, Gary has continuously proved that ambition can overcome any disability, and has become a pilot, stand up comedian, motivational speaker, welder and of course husband and father.

Gary has also put his indefatigable spirit to effective use to highlight issues with several disabilities causes, including the winning of a landmark legal case for Thalidomide children.

Seaham Safety Service Ltd can provide a full days training including legislation guidance with regards to your companies legal obligations to comply with the new legislation. The provisions in the Equality Act will come into force at different times to allow time for people and organisations affected by the new laws to carefully prepare for them.

We can accommodate up to 20 candidates at a cost of £4000 + VAT per day.

Venues to be arranged by Seaham Safety Services Ltd.

There will be tea and coffee and a buffet lunch provided.
