Course Aims
 
The course aims to prepare individuals for the SMSTS and/or the Supervisor Specialist Skills course.  It provides an introduction to Health and Safety, welfare and environmental issues and legal responsibilities relevant to their work.

Course Content
 
The course will cover the following topics:
 
·         Understanding the problems of the industry
·         Health and Safety law and it’s structure
·         Identifying supervisory roles and how they fit in with the manager in controlling the site safely
·         Risk Assessments and understanding the need for Method Statements
·         Site inductions, tool box talks and Method Statement briefings
·         Proactive and reactive monitoring

The participant will receive a Construction Skills Site Safety Plus Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme certificate on completion.
